CATHEXIS, the third monograph by Mark McCoy, concerns the investment of emotional energy on a person, object, or idea. In this collection of photographs, memory of sexual experience is depicted as a failure to permanently fuse physical and psychological desire. These decayed and fading images of people and places illustrate recollections of intimacy as revised into ones' own personal fiction. Presented as mental snapshots, the photographs become evidence not of actual events, but of a desperate reach for certainty.

CATHEXIS contains 68 full color pages, printed on high quality coated paper and perfect bound in gold foil stamped, textured black covers. Size: 5.25" x 7". Edition of 400.
