Published for a retrospective exhibition of photographer Mike Disfarmer's portraits, which were taken in the U.S. during the first half of of the 20th century.  Disfarmer claimed to have been blown away from his birth home as a baby by a tornado in 1882.  Several photographs include anecdotal histories from the subjects of his portraits about the exact moments the photographs were taken.
